P.S.

For the record, I don’t think anyone can look at political posters or stickers complacently (I didn’t word that previous post very well yesterday).  My fear, however, is that people like moi, who like to think of themselves as fairly engaged human beings, might be getting a little LAZY.  The ONLY positive thing I can think of with regard to the TPers and the Trojan Horse is that there will be a great new crop of stickers this spring.  Even that, though, is a mighty stretch.  🙁 I should try to attend one of these TP rallies and pick up…

WTF!

New blog category: the Dow Jones Industrial Average. Today = -679.95 points.  They call them points, right?  All I know is that my TIAA-CREF is going somewhere fast in a hand basket.

Enough already with the soccer mom

From Dick Cavett in today’s NY Times Opinion section about Sarah Palin, the “wild wordsmith of Wasilla”: “My concern has been the atrocities there in Darfur and the relevance to me with that issue as we spoke about Africa and some of the countries there that were kind of the people succumbing to the dictators and the corruption of some collapsed governments on the continent, the relevance was Alaska’s investment in Darfur with some of our permanent fund dollars. And, she concluded, ‘never, ever did I talk about, well, gee, is it a country or a continent, I just don’t…

A Brief Update

Carole and I (and Arline) met with Library folks today to have a conference call with Rice from iii about the new Encore discovery tool that the Library is implementing.  It has caused us Gallery folk to re-map certain CONTENTdm fields to Dublin Core, and I liked how Rice called it “dumbing down” a field.  How true.  Plus Dublin Core omits several fields that would be important in a museum/gallery context.  There were several other issues to discuss, inc. which fields to include in the Encore record, etc.  It’s really super-fascinating (i.e., NOT!). Kevin, I still need to resolve your…

MoveOn.org

I didn’t think I’d use this blog for politics, but as I’m reading Jane Mayer’s new book, “The Dark Side,” I’m increasingly nervous about the upcoming election for US President.  Check out this list from MoveOn.org with a list of 10 things to know about John McCain.

Kitty is already tired of the dog days of summer

It’s hot down here in NJ, unlike the breezy summers of northern New York, where Kitty flourishes. No stickers today after all. We went instead to see Sacred Art of the Yoruba at the Newark Museum. Beautiful beaded headdresses, plus a warrior’s cape covered with amulets, like the one Chris and Nora Roy donated to SLU. I tried to find a picture of one, but the only one I saw on Google said it was Asante (?). I’ll look around and try to post a picture later. Newark is also cleaning up the downtown area. No street art at all,…

Ordered sticker #2 yesterday from The Sticker Guy!

OK, something VERY WEIRD is going on in Stickerkitty. I have tried five times, yesterday and today, to load a small .jpg of my new sticker #2 to show everyone, and it won’t load! This happy smiley loaded, no problem! Hmm, strange. Every time I try to load it, I get the html to show up, but no picture. Here, I’ll show you. See the narrow rectangle below? That’s supposed to be sticker #2. Boo.
