WordPress is acting up. Two minutes ago, I can’t type. Now I can. I’m overwhelmed by how much work I need to do with the Posse database and Stickerkitty blog. Lately, I’ve been wondering what will be my Life’s Oeuvre (har-de-har) and alas, it sure won’t be Guernica. Aside from my super-fantastic job at SLU, which I L-O-V-E, it will be the Posse digital collection. As far as I can tell, it is unique. Yay.
Oh wow. I am going to meet Matt Siren next week for an interview/chat. La la la!!!!
My blog stats are jumping. I think I had 8-10 hits this past week. Anyway, I am finally starting to buckle down and work on the Stickerkitty has a Posse database, with help from Kevin, Tsewang, and Nathan–the crack team from last summer. May drag Caleb into this, too. I have a few hundred new stickers from Berlin to add. Here is a photo of the entrance to the Anne Frank Zentrum in Berlin. I spent a good deal of time yesterday doing research on the Berlin stickers. In so doing, I’ve come across a new topic regarding the politics of football in Germany and other European countries. Some of the stickers I gathered refer to football teams that oppose the nationalist politics of the sport and to audiences that promote racist and fascist politics. I think I’ve got that right. There is quite a lot of information on the Web at anarchistsoccer.org and other sites.
I saw a lot more antifa stickers on this trip than ever before, as well as stickers about capitalism, consumerism, GM, AIG, NATO, Afghanistan, and a sticker that said Stasi 2.0. Plenty of research to do after this trip.
Stickering in Berlin last week was so fine that it will take days and weeks to sort through everything. By pure luck and serendipity, I was able to meet Ollie and Nada at the Hatch Kingdom.
A rare sheet of Obey stickers sold on eBay for $227.50. Lucky winner. My bid at $156.99 didn’t cut the mustard.
Shepard Fairey is all over the place: Fresh Air (x2), eBay, blogs, exhibition at ICA in Boston, etc. In browsing online this morning, I found some Obey bootie from donghaining. Lots of 58 stickers each. I’ll be curious to see if these are fakes. Fairey created an Obama “PROGRESS” sticker like the “HOPE” sticker, which reportedly ran in a limited edition of 200. eBay has one online now for $275. I also on eBay saw a very rare sheet of uncut Andre the Giant stickers from “the Providence days.” The price is going up fast, no thanks to me.
