“SHE SLAPS!” featured artist: Fymsa (Russia)

Please provide a brief description of your work.

The main point of my sticker art, in general, is proving my existence. It’s like the goal of my art. But all my characters are women and it is a very important manifestation of my feelings about my own sex and gender and its place in the world.

Does being a female artist, or identifying as a female artist, influence your work, and if so, how?

It influences from the inside, not like something specially planned.

I’m proud to create cool female characters, it’s good to be close to your characters in this way, but it’s not the holistic separate theme, more like something obvious, basic.

What’s the best thing about being a female artist in the sticker world?

I haven’t ever experienced any difference between any artist I ever knew like that, so I think the best part is the fairness of the sticker world (hope I picked the correct word), everyone is just the same, like giant buddys crew.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

Thank you for the opportunity to participate!

Special thanks to Oliver Baudach, Hatch Kingdom, Berlin, Germany, for his work to organize the SHE SLAPS! Street Art Stickers by Women Artists from Around the World traveling exhibition.
